Don't Tread on US

Minutes after a government shutdown is official and the outrage is so thick you can cut it with a knife. And I've been railing against pretty much everyone involved these last few days. I actually yelled at the TV morning shows who have dumbed this story down to the point where the facts just don't matter any more. Any Republicans can spout outright lies while Democrats talk about "compromise." But it wasn't until I got to the close quote in this Washington Post article that I realized who is really behind all this. The insurance lobby. And I quote:

Instead of “getting rid of his signature achievement,” [Rand] Paul said, Republicans want merely to delay [Obamacare] “to make sure that it doesn’t totally destroy the insurance market in our country.”

WHAT? Destroy the insurance market? So that's what this is all about. Bottom line: there is no compromise. Your side lost. Obamacare is the law of the land, upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States and the results of the 2012 election.  To defund or delay laws you are sworn to uphold - whether you agree with them or not -  is to spit on the Constitution of the United States. To hold the country hostage in this way should be deemed a criminal act.
